ASI Flight Training
ASI offers initial and advanced pilot training in its new Generation 6 Cirrus SR20 (with Perspective Plus avionics).
High performance and complex ratings are offered, along with digital cockpit /technically advanced aircraft (TAA) cockpit training in our two Cessna 182/RG aircraft. Over the years ASI has developed ground school training into a complete set of Jeppesen course lesson plans and customized PowerPoint presentations for both VFR and IFR training.
As part of your Embark program you will have access to a library of video training courses for your specific Cirrus training. These professionally developed video courses thoroughly cover the course material and are prepared by a highly knowledgeable Cirrus aviation staff.
After years of development, Cirrus has now released a very comprehensive Private Pilot Program that can take a new student from start-to-finish in a Cirrus SR aircraft. This Private Pilot Program includes 40 very engaging flight lessons and simulator flights consisting of 11 learning modules leading the student through pre-study lessons, ground instruction lessons, flight simulator lessons, flight instruction lessons with accompanying professional instruction videos, with instructor performance and interactive knowledge assessments: all focused on learning the Cirrus way in a Cirrus SR aircraft.
For a “hands on” training experience, ASI has constructed a modular classroom inside our Cirrus Training Center hangar at LA Regional Airport for the convenience of having the classroom at the airplane for ground school, flight briefings, and flight debriefings.
ASI promotes all training courses for Cirrus SR aircraft and has prepared a detailed student handout outlining requirements of the Cirrus VFR Transition Course (6 flight lessons) and for the IFR Advanced Instrument Transition Course (an additional 4 flight lessons). A summary of all Cirrus eFOM Maneuver details are also included in this handout with emphasis on “energy management” with specific maneuver power settings, airspeeds, for specific aircraft configurations to lead you through the “Stabilized Approach” concept fostered by Cirrus Aircraft and supported wholeheartedly by ASI.
Our business model for ASI has taken training to a new level by offering a “Bed and Breakfast” setting complete with south Louisiana Cajun food and southern hospitality. Located adjacent to the LA Regional Airport, our very modern and spacious home/office offers a very effective blend of concentrated study and extended R&R. ASI’s style of “immersion training” is very conducive to extensive study, with easy access to flying, while offering an “at home” atmosphere.
With our own Cirrus Maintenance Center, Glencoe Aviation, on-site at LA Regional, you can have a pre-buy inspection right here on our airport. Then you could complete checkout training with a local CSIP at ASI, enjoying the amenities of the Bed and Breakfast for your brief training stay.
A second scenario would be for ASI to come and pick you up at your home location and offer your first Cirrus flight lesson upon return to LA Regional. From then on, it would be concentrated study and flying at ASI’s CTC while enjoying the comfort and style of living in our on-site B&B. Daily scenarios of “train and fly hard” while “enjoying the southern life-style” could continue until training is done.
After meeting the Cirrus course syllabus requirements of your specific program, your Cirrus Certificate of Completion (accepted by most insurance companies) would allow you to fly away in your own plane as a Cirrus PIC!
